Following international tender PGF Ltd was awarded a contract, in March 2015, to develop an Ecotourism Policy and Action Plan on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the National Tourism Board.

Consultative workshops have been held with National and Regional Stakeholders in Freetown, Bo, Makeni and Kenema, including attraction organisers, hoteliers, travel companies and international partners.

The Draft Policy was unveiled by the Minister of Tourism and members of Cabinet and validated at a conference in Freetown in July.
